I got all vulnerable in a social media post. I admitted that the pandemic seemed to sap my creativity. Or, maybe I should say, that the typical ways that I apply my creative energy were dry. What creative energy I had left was showing up in places that I hadn’t imagined before the pandemic started.
The experience, and coming out of it, prompted these questions to explore where the creative energy I used to have was being siphoned off. While the pandemic was huge factor, it’s not the first time that it has happened. And, it’s not the only factor that plays a role.
Your (and my) creative energy may be disappearing elsewhere, so you need to explore whether it’s really being expressed in any of these ways:
If you’re answering “Yes” to one or more of those questions, that could be a big part of why you feel your creative energy isn’t what it used to be.
Creative thinking techniques can help you to keep generating creative output even with lower energy. Ultimately, though, you need to address what’s off in your life situation to spark your creativity to amazing levels again.
